Eye clinic Velp, 2008

Soda was approached in 2008 to design the interior of the public area (the entrance, waiting rooms and corridors) of the eye clinic in Rijnstate Hospital (Velp).

The concepts 'seeing', 'watching' and 'waiting' are linked in various ways and translated into the interior. Frames such as far/near, inside/outside, standstill/movement, etc. are applied for this purpose.

The line patterns in the floor, which are derived from illustrations of various eye conditions, give direction to the room and guide the visitor to the counter and the various departments.

The illustrations in the 'viewing boxes' on the wall play with the viewer's perception.
